Castelvecchio Vermouth Riposo Del Soldato
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Riposo del Soldasto is an elegant vermouth, born from the idea of enhancing red wine and creating a unique product.
- With this vermouth the vitality of the wine is accompanied by classic aromatic and botanical plants of the Friuli and Karst tradition.
Varietal Composition: Castelvecchio red wine, pure grain alcohol, sugar and aromatic herbs.
Elaboration: To achieve the intended results a greater amount of wine is used than in traditional vermouths and no chemical stabilizers or preservatives are added. For this reason, a larger amount of wine has been used, in comparison to the usual vermouths, and no chemical stabilizer nor preservative has been added, except for pure grain alcohol. Possible precipitations after opening are due to the absence of stabilizers and attest the artisanal nature of the production process. The ABV is set at 18% with the intention of best preserving the organoleptic properties of the product.
Tasting Notes: A nose of red fruits, bitter orange, and balsamic scent. Round mouth, with lemon balm aromas. The finish is sweet and neat, with wormwood notes.
The Castelvecchio estate extends over a plateau 145 meters above sea level, it is the first karst rise from the Isonzo di Sagrado and opens up to the the Alps to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the south. Historical evidence confirms that as early as 1578 vineyards and the olive trees thrived on the karst hills where the Villa Veneta estate was built starting in 1700. The estate is now called Azienda Agricola Castelvecchio and is owned by the Terraneo family. Since 2013 the company has chosen a sustainable and low environmental impact viticulture. Castelvecchio wines are characterized by an innate elegance and a uniqueness that discloses the Karst at each sip.
