WHY WE LOVE IT
- Hogwash is a wine brand sourced from Clarksburg AVA that specializes in Rosé wines.
- Clarksburg enjoys the maritime influence of the Sacramento Delta, with fog and cool breezes from the SF Bay. Dense clay and loam soils, coupled with consistently warm days and cool evenings, allow for richly flavored and balanced fruit.
- Shawn Johnson first crafted this Rosé at the request of Chef Linton Hopkins for a charity pig roast in Atlanta, Georgia. The name “Hogwash” was jokingly given to the wine by guests enjoying it with the roasted pig, and it stuck!
Varietal: Red Blend
Elaboration: Minimal oak aging of 1-2 passes in American oak for 11 months highlights the beautiful fruit without overwhelming it.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of white lily, sliced strawberry and grapefruit. On the palate, you’ll experience nectarine and mandarin orange with a clean and precise finish. A lingering of lemon zest and honey leaves you refreshed and thirsty for more.
