  • Crianza wines are aged for a minimum of 2 years with 1 year in oak barrels.
  • Ageing potential 3-5 years.
  • Vegan Friendly!

Varietal Composition: 100% Tempranillo

Elaboration: In central Rioja, the climate is a unique confluence of Continental, Mediterranean and Atlantic. Grapes are hand-harvested from mid-September from 100 ha of outstanding vineyards, including a selection of bush-trained vines with an average age of 20 years. Ripe grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks with the temperature controlled at 28°C. Following fermentation and several days maceration, the wine is aged in American oak barrels for 12 months. This results in the perfect balance of fruit and oak flavors.

Tasting Notes: Elegant, complex, well-structured, fresh and fruity. Classic Rioja style which is enjoyed in the many tapas bars of Logroño. Aromas of red fruits and vanilla with subtle hints of licorice and toffee. Silky and persistent finish with a touch of spice.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

AAnciano wines are from a family-owned vineyard in Criadores de Rioja located in Alberite, Spain, just six kilometres from Rioja’s capital of Logroño. The bodega is strategically situated at the crossroads of the appellation’s three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, sheltered by the Cantabrian Mountains; Rioja Alavesa with its yellow-hued limestone soils; and Rioja Oriental, home to reddish silica soils. The region is also at the intersection of three weather patterns – continental, Mediterranean and Atlantic.

Criadores de Rioja was founded in 1999. The estate is owned by the Vivanco family, who are well-known in the region for having spent over 100 years and four generations in Rioja winemaking. The estate practices sustainable, organic farming techniques.
