- Vegan Friendly!
Varietal Composition: 100% Tempranillo
Elaboration: Mature vines are grown in premium high altitude (300-500m) vineyards on gravel and sandy soils in the Rioja Alta sub-region, near Logroño. Hand-harvested when perfectly ripe in September. Top-class grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks with the temperature controlled at 28-30°C. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 6 months in American oak barrels. This results in the perfect balance of fruit and light vanilla spice flavors.
Tasting Notes: Bright ruby red wine. Ripe wild berry and cherry fruit aromas with sweet herbs and hints of spice. Beautifully smooth and silky, fresh and fruity, with rounded tannins. A touch of vanilla leads to a lingering finish. Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Anciano wines are from a family-owned vineyard in Criadores de Rioja located in Alberite, Spain, just six kilometres from Rioja’s capital of Logroño. The bodega is strategically situated at the crossroads of the appellation’s three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, sheltered by the Cantabrian Mountains; Rioja Alavesa with its yellow-hued limestone soils; and Rioja Oriental, home to reddish silica soils. The region is also at the intersection of three weather patterns – continental, Mediterranean and Atlantic.
Criadores de Rioja was founded in 1999. The estate is owned by the Vivanco family, who are well-known in the region for having spent over 100 years and four generations in Rioja winemaking. The estate practices sustainable, organic farming techniques.
