Arnoux Cairanne "Vieux Clocher"

Arnoux Cairanne “Vieux Clocher”

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The small village of Cairanne is located in the heart of the Southern Côtes du Rhône and has been a Southern Rhone “Cru” since 1953.
  • Wines from Cairanne always have an intriguing floral component, which we go crazy for.
  • This is the winery’s traditional Cairanne bottling.

Varietal Composition: 70 % Grenache, 25 % Syrah, 5 % Mourvèdre

Elaboration:  Grapes are picked at optimal ripeness levels. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature contolled vats. The final blend is aged in oak casks for 6 months before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Dark colour. Expressive nose gradually delivering tones of dark fruits, a smoky mineral note and touches of tobacco and spice. On the palate, a sappy, full, well-balanced wine displaying a measure of complexity.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Marc and Jean-Francois Arnoux are the newest generation to perpetuate their family’s long history at this traditional domaine that sits next door to the old Vacqueyras church.

The family’s history in Vacqueyras dates back to 1731, and vineyard holdings are now 41 hectares in total, with additional volume supplemented with growing partners who have supplied the family for decades.

Always rich with garrigue, Arnoux’s offerings consistently overdeliver for us, and this is a producer we’ve been working with since our early days.
