Benmar Alpine Lakes Pinot Noir
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Alpine Lakes Pinot Noir benefits from the region’s ideal growing conditions and comes from a meticulously tended vineyard nestled in the heart of the Dundee Hills AVA, one of the most prominent AVAs in the region.
- The well-draining soils, marine influence, and cool climate nights all contribute to the development of intense flavors and an elegant structure in the grapes. The vineyard is farmed entirely using organic methods.
- Inspired by the stunning Enchantments hike in the Pacific Northwest, this Pinot Noir embodies adventure and exploration. The label features a photo by Jen Bybee, capturing the spirit of this remarkable wine, where Alpine Lakes was born.
Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Elaboration: The grapes were destemmed, cold soaked for 72 hours, and underwent pump-overs and punch-downs before pressing. After an 8-day settling, they underwent 10 months of élevage and an additional 5 months of barrel-to-barrel racking.
Tasting Notes: This wine features a captivating bouquet of dark fruits like black cherry and plum, alongside ripe berries such as raspberry and boysenberry, with hints of forest floor and damp earth. The taste begins with a burst of juicy red fruit, supported by elegant tannins and refreshing acidity. The mid-palate introduces notes of dark chocolate and baking spices, while the finish is long and complex.
