BenMarco Wines

BenMarco Wines, a project of Susana Balbo Wines, is dedicated to highlighting the unique characteristics of Mendoza’s diverse terroirs through minimal intervention winemaking. With over 3,000 acres of vineyards planted across Argentina, Edgardo “Edy” Del Popolo, the General Manager of Susana Balbo Wines and the head winemaker for BenMarco, is one of Argentina’s most knowledgeable winegrowers. He has a thorough understanding of the land and soils in the region.

BenMarco wines are crafted with a focus on allowing the vineyards to express their true essence. The winemaking process involves minimal intervention, ensuring the purest interpretation of the unique terroir where the grapes are grown. BenMarco wines are sourced from specific, high-elevation sub-zones of Mendoza, each with distinct characteristics:

• Malbec (Los Chacayes): Known for its sandy, rocky loam soil, which provides good drainage and limits vine vigor, leading to concentrated flavors and firm tannins.
• Cabernet Sauvignon (Los Arboles): Characterized by its stony soil, which helps the grapes ripen early.
• Expresivo (Gualtallary): A blend of Malbec and Cabernet Franc, known for its exotic aromas, lively freshness, and minerality.
