BenMarco Expresivo
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Gualtallary is one of Argentina’s highest wine regions, reaching over 4,265 ft, and is characterized by cold conditions that help produce strong vines with intense aromas.
- Renowned for its alluvial calcareous soils, the estate is divided into two sub-regions, Monasterio and Albo, which contain five distinct soil profiles across 21 unique plots.
- This exceptional terroir leads to the creation of BenMarco Expresivo Gualtallary, a linear and fresh wine with aromas of blackberry, pepper tree, and violet, complemented by mineral notes, balanced acidity, and firm tannins, all of which contribute to its impressive aging potential.
Varietal: 85% Malbec, 15% Cabernet Franc
Elaboration: Grapes are hand-harvested and selected, then destemmed and softly crushed. After four days of cold maceration, fermentation occurs at a maximum of 30°C (86°F) with wild yeasts, featuring daily délestage or push-downs and pump-overs. The wine is aged for 14 months in 70% new and 30% second-use French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Expresivo is a lineal, fresh wine, with aromas of blackberries, pepper tree and violets. It stands out for its mineral notes, balanced natural acidity and firm tannins. It has a great aging potential.
