Blagden Wines Pinot Noir “Sangiacomo Vineyard”

WHY WE LOVE IT

• The Blagden Wines Pinot Noir is sourced from the Sangiacomo Roberts Road Vineyard, located in the Petaluma Gap AVA of Sonoma Coast. This 130-acre vineyard, initially planted in 1999, is situated on a well-drained creek bed and is renowned for its aged Pinot Noir.
• The vineyard is Certified Sustainable by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA).
• The wine is well-balanced and complex, making it enjoyable to drink now, but it has the potential to age nicely for another 10 or more years.

Varietals: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: 100% destemmed Pinot Noir underwent a 5-day cold soak and native fermentation in open-top fermenters, with clones kept separate. Two daily punch-downs were performed, and EnoFerm Alpha was added for malolactic fermentation.

Tasting Notes: This wine is rich purple in color and shows black raspberry and black currant on the nose with mouthwatering plum, cassis, blackberry and sweet chocolatey earthiness on the palate. The juicy, persistent finish is long and lush. Updated Oct 2020: This is purplish ruby in color with a shy smoky, earthy nose that opens up to candied cherries and east Indian spice. A firm tannin backbone is wound around a rich, candied raspberry fruit core with some crushed gravel and iodine. The lingering finish brings together earth and spice – and will complement many foods.
