Bodega Renacer Repasso

Bodega Renacer RePasso Malbec

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The Bodega Renacer RePasso Malbec uses partially dried grapes in the winemaking process which intensifies the flavors.
  • This Malbec drinks well now.

Varietal Composition: 100% Malbec

Elaboration: The grapes used on the wine are Malbec from Luján de Cuyo vineyard and Malbec from Uco Valley vineyard. They are harvested by hand. The grapes from these two vineyards are fermented together in stainless steal tanks with a classic fermentation. They spend three days of maceration at 8°C followed and then 15 days fermentation at temperature between 22 and 26°C with native yeast. Some of the Malbec grapes are naturally dried. After the fermentation of the raisins in stainless steal tanks we drain the wine Milamore and leave the raisins in the tanks. Finally, we add the fruity wine on the raisins skins. A second fermentation occurs because of the residual sugar in the raisins. This fermentation increases the body, the color, the extraction, the aromas and the alcoholic content of the wine. It becomes more suited for a long aging in French oak barrels, where it remains for four months. The aging in the bottle is at least four months before release.

Tasting Notes: This wine has deep and intense ruby red with purple shades. It is very complex and offers fresh aromas like plums and violets and in the second nose offers aromas like honey, cherry and ripe figs, which combine with spicy notes of black pepper and aromatic herbs.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Bodega Renacer was founded by Patricio Reich, who has been in the wine industry since the late 1980s. He started his career as a partner and managing director of Viña San Pedro in Chile. His passion for wine grew over the years, and it was then that as a family – together with his children – they decided to embark on a new project aimed at producing premium wines.

Built in 2004 in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, the winery is a tower with Tuscan- inspired walls, pergolas and Italian-style gardens to honor their family roots and create a warm and welcoming space for all who visit.

The Renacer vineyards are located in Perdriel, a unique area of Mendoza – Argentina, at the foot of the Andes Mountains and on the south margin of the Mendoza River. In this area Malbec and Cabernets find their best expression due to the outstanding characteristics of climate, altitude, soil and water.

30 hectares of estate vineyards, some of them more than seventy years old, planted with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with a production of less than 8 tons per hectare. In order to take advantage of the expressions of the different terroirs of Mendoza, Renacer works long term relationships with the best local producers in the micro-regions of Valle de Uco and Luján de Cuyo.
