Bodegas Condado de Haza Tinto ’20 Aldeas’ Tempranillo
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The Bodegas Condado de Haza ’20 Aldeas’ is a premium organic Tempranillo from Spain’s Ribera del Duero region, produced by Familia Fernández Rivera.
- Grown on hillside vineyards in the fertile Duero River valley, the grapes benefit from high altitudes for slow ripening and diverse, mainly clay soils.
- The name “20 Aldeas” highlights the focus on organic farming and the region’s unique terroir.
Varietals: 100% Tempranillo
Elaboration: Produced using traditional methods, starting with destemming and spontaneous fermentation. It ages for at least 12 months in various oak formats, including 225-liter, 500-liter, and 5,000-liter foudres, with different blends of American and French oak. After bottling, it continues to age until its market release.
Tasting Notes: Intense aroma of ripe black fruit, such as blackberry and plum. Subtle balsamic notes appear, integrating with the licorice typical of the Tempranillo variety, followed by roasted notes like vanilla and smoky hints from aging in American oak barrels. It’s a powerful wine with a fleshy entry, boasting a remarkable balance between tannins and acidity. The mouthfeel is expansive, with round, persistent tannins that fill the mouth with fruit, rounded off by lingering notes of roasted coffee and licorice. Long and enjoyable. We recommend decanting as it may contain sediment.
