Luzon alma de luzon

Bodegas Luzón Alma de Luzón

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Alma de Luzón is the “Soul of Luzón”. Named for the brains ability to remember important moments, learn from lived experiences and above all get excited about different situations through neural connections. This wine is considered the “Soul” of the winery, as it is a result of what they’ve learned and achieved.
  • It is among the region’s most historic wineries, producing wine since the end of the 19th century.

Varietal Composition: Monastrell and Syrah

Elaboration: Manually harvest the grapes in 15 kg boxes, allowing the fruit to macerate at low temperature in a cold room for 24 hours. We select the bunches and carry out alcoholic fermentation in 500 kg barrels. Then it is transferred to new French and American oak barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 22 months. We do not use selected yeasts and carry out minimal human intervention. After bottling, it spends 16 months in the bottle before being released to the market.

Tasting Notes: Monastrell and Syrah is a unique blend. Deep cherry in colour, its aromas are expressive and intense, with notes of red and black fruits, spices and soft smoke from the ageing process. On the palate it is succulent, with a balanced freshness of great character and typicity. It is a modern red wine with personality, with great aging potential.
