Bodegas Luzón Verde
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Jumilla has a harsh climate at an average altitude of 650 metres which makes the land rough and dry. The Monastrell grape finds its inspiration and reason for being here, surpassing itself by showing its best version.
- It is among the region’s most historic wineries, producing wine since the end of the 19th century.
Varietal Composition: 100% Monastrell
Elaboration: The grapes are harvested by hand in 10/15 kg boxes. They are transported to the winery with great care, and are kept in a cold storage room for 24 hours at 6ºC. They are then selected at the table, choosing the best grapes prior to vatting and vinification. Fermentation takes place over a period of 8 to 10 days, at a temperature of 24/26ºC. The wine remains in contact with the skins during maceration for a period of 10 to 15 days. Red wine aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels
Tasting Notes: Deep red in colour with ruby highlights, its aromas are expressive and intense, with notes of red and black fruits, sweet spices and soft smoked notes from the ageing process. On the palate it is frank with a lively freshness that speaks of the vintage, supported by its fruity character. It has a broad and voluminous palate, with fine tannins and a persistent finish in which its complexity can be appreciated. It is a unique red wine that transmits our terroir and philosophy.
