Bodegas Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva 'Millenium'

Bodegas Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva ‘Millenium’

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Bodegas Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva ‘Millenium’ is a premium 100% Tempranillo red wine from Ribera del Duero, Spain.
  • It is famous for its intense flavor and has the potential to age 40 years.
  • The grapes are sourced from the high-altitude Viña Alta vineyard in Pesquera de Duero, grown in pebbly, sandy soil at over 800 meters.
  • The region experiences harsh winters and hot, dry summers, which contribute to the quality of the grapes.

Varietals: 100% Tempranillo

Elaboration: Traditional vinification with destemming and indigenous yeast fermentation in stainless steel, followed by 24–26 months of aging in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: A complex bouquet of blackcurrants, dried cranberries, black mushrooms, cedary wood, and roasted coffee. The palate is powerful yet elegant, featuring a rich, meaty texture and refined tannins. It has a tight, creamy mouthfeel and a long, persistent finish with notes of dark chocolate and tobacco.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Bodegas Tinto Pesquera, established in 1975 by Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera in Ribera del Duero, Spain, is known for attracting global attention to the region. Alejandro Fernández, called the “Master of Tempranillo,” is appreciated for making high-quality, long-aging wines that defy the traditional view of La Mancha. The winery is a vital part of the Familia Fernández Rivera group and was transferred to the founders’ granddaughters in 2019.
