Bodegas Tinto Pesquera Reserva
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Tinto Pesquera Reserva is a standout wine from the Ribera del Duero region, often acclaimed as “magnificent” or “excellent.”
- It balances intensity with silky elegance, making it enjoyable now and suitable for aging.
- Situated in Pesquera de Duero at an elevation of over 800 meters, the vineyard features poor, pebble-filled soil with a clay base, which challenges the vines and enhances grape quality.
- The mild climate, with rainy winters leading into summer, supports healthy vine growth, ultimately contributing to the wine’s rich character and complexity
Varietals: 100% Tempranillo
Elaboration: Hand harvested. Vinified traditionally, it undergoes destemming, fermentation in stainless steel for 2–3 weeks, followed by roughly 14–24 months of aging in American oak barrels, finishing with at least 12 months in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: Clean and bright appearance. Beautiful garnet color with a violet rim. A complex and very elegant wine. Aromas of fresh fruit, light balsamic notes, roasted aromas like coffee, and subtle smoky touches. A wine that is full-bodied, fresh, and elegant. Very round and enveloping tannins with hints of dark fruit, very well integrated with the smoky and spicy notes from the oak.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Bodegas Tinto Pesquera, established in 1975 by Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera in Ribera del Duero, Spain, is known for attracting global attention to the region. Alejandro Fernández, called the “Master of Tempranillo,” is appreciated for making high-quality, long-aging wines that defy the traditional view of La Mancha. The winery is a vital part of the Familia Fernández Rivera group and was transferred to the founders’ granddaughters in 2019.
