Brandborg Gewurztraminer
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Excellent wine from higher altitude vineyards in a cool, coastal climate terroir.
- Brandborg implements sustainable farming practices.
- The Gewurztraminer was sourced from two sites within the Elkton Oregon AVA, both planted in 1983, Bradley Vineyard and Anindor Vineyard. The vineyards have similar soils born of alluvial Umpqua River deposits.
- The growing season in Elkton is long and temperate with typically little rainfall between April and October.
Varietal Composition: 100% Gewurztraminer
Tasting Notes: This wine is a beautiful shimmering pale golden straw color. Fruit aromas highlight exotic tropical fruits beginning with candied quince, followed by interesting tangerine, lychee, and with savory spices of cardamom and a touch of fennel. The mouthfeel is full and round. The fruit flavors begin to reveal some green apple and ripe grapefruit notes. This full bodied wine lingers upon your palate with a pleasant, tingly finish.
