Brandborg Pinot Noir Love Puppets

Brandborg “Love Puppets” Pinot Noir

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Excellent wine from higher altitude vineyards in a cool, coastal climate terroir.
  • The grapes for this wine come from favorite dry farmed vineyards, all with yields below 2 tons per acre. The wine represents the best of the grapes they bring in from these diverse growers.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: Love Puppets is a composition emphasizing Brandborg’s most desirable Pinot lots from Westbrook, Bradley and the Ferris Wheel Estate, all dry farmed vineyards. The northern reach of the Umpqua Valley in Elkton is cooler, home to Bradley and Ferris Wheel and Westbrook further inland is a warmer site. This blend compliments the best qualities from each plot. The color is pale crimson with purple highlights.

Tasting Notes: The Brandborg Love Puppets Pinot Noir has aromas of blueberry, pomegranate, ripe cherry, strawberry and warmer plum and currant notes. The bouquet shows the influence of all of these fruit aromas, plus a strong impression of floral and spice notes, tea roses on a warm day. The flavors continue with a nice interplay between lighter blueberry, red fruit notes and the darker plum fruit. The mouthfeel is savory and rich with a pleasing texture and towards the lingering finish displays the nicely balancing acidity. As the wine warms, you will begin to find some French oak barrel influence with vanilla, cinnamon and clove notes both in the bouquet and flavors.
