Brunello Di-Montalcino Cantina Di Montalcino

Cantina Di Montalcino Brunello Di Montalcino

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This is one of the most sought after wines in Italy.
  • The Mediterranean climate produces a robust Brunello (Sangiovese), as the grapes are able to ripen slowly and evenly.

Varietal Composition: 100% Sangiovese

Elaboration: The climate was mild, with a very hot summer, but with rains that helped the grapes to reach the right degree of ripeness. The wine is aged for at least 30 months in 50 Hl Slavonian oak barrels. The wine rests in the bottle for at least 6 months. The grape are harvested manually. The vinification is in red with maceration of the skins for 20-25 days with controlled temperatures up to 24 ° C.

Tasting Notes: The beautiful nose suggests dried tea leaves, earth, tobacco, cedar, five spice, dried cherries, orange zest and Christmas spices. The tannins have a brambly quality to them, but they slip effortlessly into place around finely indented creases of red-plum and red-cherry flavors. Long and composed, this is a silky, balanced, delightful offering. What a wine from the only cooperative in Montalcino!

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Cantina di Montalcino, founded in 1970, is the only cooperative winery in the Brunello area. Their 94 members are small growers with less than 2 hectares each under cultivation. Together they produce quality grapes for a total of about 76,000 bottles.

Brunello is one of the most desirable Italian wines. The diverse Tuscan terroir is immensely suitable for growing the Sangiovese fruit from which Brunello is made. Each plot imbues the wine with its own distinct characteristics. Brunello is especially suitable for collecting as it ages well.
