Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc is a white wine from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. It is a blend of 12 different lots.
- The concentrated wine balances freshness with aging potential.
- Its terroir features gravel, clay, and limestone, influenced by a maritime climate, resulting in vibrant acidity, minerality, and expressive fruit and floral notes.
Varietals: 65% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Sémillon
Elaboration: Carefully hand-picked and sorted grapes are fermented in barrels, with about 25-30% being new oak. The wine is aged on its lees for 10 months to enhance complexity and richness.
Tasting Notes: Fresh, intense, and elegant wine with a balance of fruit, floral, and mineral notes. Key tasting notes include aromas of lemon, jasmine, pear, and peach on the nose, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with a zesty, mineral-driven finish. Flavors of citrus, white pepper, and subtle herbal or smoky notes are also highlighted, along with a saline, chalky undertone.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Château Carbonnieux Blanc, one of Bordeaux’s oldest estates dating back to the 13th century, is located in the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation. Founded by Benedictine monks, it gained early fame for red and white wines and became a Grand Cru Classé in 1959. Acquired by the Perrin family in 1956, the estate is celebrated for its gravelly terroir and historical significance, including a visit from Thomas Jefferson. The unique climate and soil of the area enhance the quality of its wines.
