Château Gazin Rocquencourt

Château Gazin-Rocquencourt, among the oldest wine estates in the village of Léognan, France, traces its origin back to 1660. It is located within the Pessac-Léognan Appellation, in the heart of the Bordeaux wine country. The estate, which lies just 20 minutes south of the center of Bordeaux, was established in 1987 after much lobbying against urbanization by the wine growers of Syndicat Viticole of Pessac-Léognan.

In 2006, the Bonnie family purchased the estate from the Michotte family and began devotedly restoring it. The previous owners, the Michotte family, had owned it since 1966. The vineyard covers 22 hectares on a gravelly hilltop in one of the finest terroirs in the area. After taking control, the Bonnie family replanted most of the vineyard and increased the density of the vines.

The family practices sustainable farming and the estate has earned High Environmental Value certifications. The local climate is positively impacted by the frost-reducing Garonne River to the east and a wind-blocking forest to the west.

The winery is an ultra-modern high-performance facility, having been redesigned and rebuilt with new temperature-controlled double-lined stainless steel tanks. The cellars are completely gravity-fed, allowing for parcel-by-parcel vinification.

A historic property in Pessac-Léognan, Château Gazin-Rocquencourt has been noted in the renowned Féret guides since 1874 for the quality of its wines and its terroir.
