Château Giscours Margaux

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The Château Giscours Marqaux vineyard has deep Garonne gravels that ensure excellent drainage and promote healthy roots, enhancing the grapes’ flavor and quality.
  • This wine showcases density and complexity from the Cabernet Sauvignon, with a concentrated finish and added substance from the Petit Verdot.
  • The 2014 vintage is well-balanced, deep, and structured, featuring silky tannins that exemplify a great wine.

Varietals: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot

Elaboration: Barrel Aged 1-2 year oak (18%), new oak (82%)

Tasting Notes: The vintage is driven by Cabernet Sauvignon, with great density and beautiful complexity; the finish is taut and precise. The Petit Verdot has a deep color and brings all the body to the blend. 2014 is a balanced, deep, and structured wine with a very beautiful finish that characterizes the Grands Vins.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Château Carbonnieux Blanc, one of Bordeaux’s oldest estates dating back to the 13th century, is located in the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation. Founded by Benedictine monks, it gained early fame for red and white wines and became a Grand Cru Classé in 1959. Acquired by the Perrin family in 1956, the estate is celebrated for its gravelly terroir and historical significance, including a visit from Thomas Jefferson. The unique climate and soil of the area enhance the quality of its wines.
