Chateau Jeremie

Château Jérémie

Domaines Paul Mas owes its beginnings to Auguste Mas who bought the first family vineyard in 1892. Auguste was the great-grandfather of current owner Jean-Claude Mas. The business is named for Jean-Claude’s father, Paul, who gave his son 35 hectares in 1987. Now Domaine Paul Mas owns several wineries in the region, including Château Jérémie.

Château Jérémie is located in the charming village of Fabrezan in the Corbières region, at the foot of L’Alaric, It lies only about 20 miles from the Mediterranean Sea. The cellar, refurbished in 2014, is an architectural work of art in the center of the village. The vineyards extend over 68 hectares in the appellations of Languedoc, Corbières, and Corbières Boutenac.

The winery is certified HVE 3 (High Environmental Value). The vines of Château Jérémie flourish in the Mediterranean climate at an altitude of between 40 and 150 meters. The soils are gravelly clay and chalk with rounded stones.

Grapes grown on the slopes of the east-west facing vineyard are Grenache and Grenache blanc, Carignan, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvedre, Vermentino, and Viognier. The vines are between seven and 80 years old and planted at a density of between 5,400 and 7,200 vines per hectare. Depending on the slope, harvesting is done both mechanically and by hand.
