Mas des Tannes Classique Rouge
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The use of different types of oak barrels creates a complex and harmonious wine
- Mas des Tannes wines are sourced from vineyards that have always been farmed without any chemical products.
- Produced from organically grown grapes.
Varietal Composition: 45% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre, 20% Carignan
Elaboration: Destemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration for 3 days and separate vinification for each grape variety. The alcoholic fermentation lasts between 5 and 7 days. A post-fermentation maceration is then carried out for 4 to 10 days for all the grape varieties. Use of stainless steel takns and new epoxy coated cement tanks, with temperature control. The malolactic fermentation of the Grenache is done in barrels. Mourvèdre and Carignan are partly aged in barrels for 6 months after malolactic fermentation. 60% of the wine is aged in American oak barrels and 40% in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Deep purple with ruby highlights. Aromas of blueberry, vanilla and blackberry, associated with strawberry and sweet spices. Rich and opulent with velvety tannins. Notes of jam and a good length and persistent finish.
Jean-Claude Mas, founder of Domaines Paul Mas in 2000, has launched a complete range under his own name, wines with true Languedoc character, a sense of place, a history, but most important of all, these are fine wines made to give the utmost pleasure to the drinker.
These wines represent the diversity of terroirs within the same appellation and also the essence of each traditional appellation in the Languedoc. They are a fusion between the tradition of winemaking and the new approach to wine, embodied by Jean-Claude Mas. Mas des Mas is an invitation to journey into the heart of the main crus and appellations of the Languedoc.
