Chateau Phelan Segur

Château Phélan Ségur Saint-Estèphe

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This full-bodied wine features a muscular fruit profile and firm tannins that will soften beautifully with age.
  • Located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, its vineyard is characterized by deep clay and gravel soils, benefiting from a sheltered maritime climate.

Varietal: 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot

Elaboration: Hand-picked grapes, sorted on tables, gently crushed, and then fermented in stainless steel vats. The wine was then aged for 16-18 months in about 50% new French oak barrels, utilizing barrels with lighter toasting to avoid strong smoke notes.

Tasting Notes: The wine showcases a deep ruby color with purple hues. It offers enticing aromas of raspberry preserves, blackcurrants, rose petals, and spice cake. On the palate, expect rich flavors of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, cedar, and plums, with hints of smoked tobacco and dark chocolate.
