Chateau Tour Chaigneau Lalande-de-Pomerol
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The Château Tour Chaigneau is a wine made from specific parcels of the vineyard, further north on the Pomerol plateau.
- The terroir is clay and limestone with iron dross, allowing the cultivation of magnificent Merlot, both ripe and deep.
Varietal Composition: 92% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Pressac
Elaboration: Harvesting is meticulously planned to avoid wines that are too vegetal or too ripe. Leaf thinning and green harvesting are sometimes used to optimize grape ripeness. Harvesting is carried out plot by plot, enabling a rigorous selection of grapes. The sorting table is strictly monitored to ensure that only the best fruit is used in the vinification process. Vinification takes place in high-quality cement vats of different sizes, depending on the plot.
Tasting Notes: Garnet highlights, with a vibrant violet hue. Ferro-saline minerality with a nice touch of smoke. Rich black fruit notes with raspberries, black cherries, but also blackberries. With aeration emerges complexity, notes of truffle and almonds too. Very structured and well defined. Nice persistence and tannic and gripping finish. Nice mineral notes on the finish.
