Cipriani NV Bellini White

Cipriani Bellini White

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • In 1948 , war and liberation were vivid memories in people’s hearts. This is why Giuseppe Cipriani, within the walls of his recently reopened Harry’s Bar, decided to celebrate peace with a cocktail: the Bellini.
  • This aperitif with a taste of freedom took its name from Giovanni Bellini, the famous painter also known by the name of Giambellino.
  • The original recipe always has the same ingredients, ever since the Bellini was invented: peaches and Prosecco are mutually sufficient, they complement each other.
  • Serve at 3-4°C.

Varietal Composition: Prosecco and White-Peach

Elaboration: Store18 months from packaging at a temperature of 15-20°C.

Tasting Notes: A sweet and soft aperitif in which the velvety flavor of strictly white peaches blends with the vivacity of Prosecco. Fresh and fruity. The sweetness of the peach balances the sour notes of the prosecco.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Giuseppe Capriani Senior opened Harry’s Bar in Venice in 1931. Harry’s Bar became the place where writers, painters, artists, aristocrats, kings and queens would meet. Cipriani invented the Bellini at the bar in 1948. He took Prosecco, the town sparkling wine and combined it with white-peach puree. (Most Prosecco is made about an hour from Venice.) He named it after a Venetian artist who painted a picture of a pink-shirted saint, which turned out to be about the same color as the drink. Today, the Bellini is one the most famous cocktails in the world, available in almost every bar where Prosecco is poured. In 2001, Harry’s Bar was declared a national landmark by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs as a place of national interest for its pivotal role in twentieth century Venice. It is the only establishment in Italy to have received such an accolade in the last 100 years.
