Collefrisio Falanghina "Vinaquadra"

Collefrisio Falanghina “Vinaquadra”

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Falanghina is not that common in Abruzzo, but we really wanted to include this grape in our assortment.
  • The result is very interesting, the classic aromatic hints of the Falanghina get even more interesting, due to the climate of Abruzzo.

Varietal Composition: 100% Falanghina

Elaboration: Maceration at low temperature upon grapes removal from the stalks and controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel.

Tasting Notes: Straw-like yellow color with green reflections. An intense fruity scent, containing hints of banana, strawberry and citrus fruit with a backdrop of green tea. Long lasting taste.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Third-generation winemakers Amedeo De Luca and Antonio Patricelli created the Collefrisio winery in 2004 in the hills of Frisa, Chieti Province, in Italy’s Abruzzo region. The estate is based on the hilltop holdings they acquired from the Frisio family (hence the name “Collefrisio”). Vineyard holdings are 35 hectares in total, and all farming is organic. We first came to Amedeo and Antonio for their very fine Montepulciano, and have expanded our stateside selection into white varietals over the last year.
