Compton Family Wines Llewellyn Cuvée Pinot Noir
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The true essence of an Oregon terroir it is a classic rich Pinot Noir and Compton Llewellyn is certainly no exception.
- A blend of old vines from three different vineyards with an average age of 35 years. All grapes were dry farmed. The Pinot Noir Clones are mostly Pommard, Wädenswil and Dijon 115.
- The vineyards are set into the coastal foothills in Philomath Oregon, where the soils are Alluvial and Sedimentary loam. Marine sediment soils were laid down on the floor by the Pacific Ocean.
- The vines are located near the base of Mary’s Peak which is a mountain in Benton County and is the highest peak in the Oregon Coast range. The Peak is a rain shadow for the vineyards.
Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir
Elaboration: Small lot fermentation and hand punch-downs. After fermentation the wine was stored in French oak barrels for 18 months before being blended and bottled. Wines were bottled in Screwcap Closures to retain great fruit flavors.
Tasting Notes: Expression of elegance, Compton Llewellyn is a charming Pinot Noir vibrant red fruit flavors, supported by a subtle minerality and earthy undertones.
