Cuilleron Condrieu “Verlieu”
WHY WE LOVE IT
- This is an exceptional Single-plot Cuvée from the esteemed commune of Chavanay, highlighting the distinguished “Verlieu” Lieu-dit—a true gem and the crowning achievement of the renowned Cuilleron estate.
- The Viognier enhances the richness of the soil, while the bitterness on the finish emphasizes its length. This wine is best enjoyed in its youth.
Varietal Composition: 100% Viognier
Elaboration: Grown on selected Condrieu plots with biotite granite terroir, the Viognier showcases minerality and elegance. Treatments are limited, with no insecticides to preserve biodiversity and minimal organic fertilizers applied. Precise control of vigor and yields is achieved through leaf stripping and green harvesting. Grapes are hand-harvested using traditional methods, with minimal oenological products (indigenous yeasts). The wine undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, followed by 12 months of aging in barrels and tuns.
Tasting Notes: Bright, golden wine. The nose is very expressive with flowers and delicious yellow fruits. Round and complex on the palate. The bitterness on the finish emphasizes its length.
