Elaboration: These grapes are grown in a blend of plots located in the north of the appellation. The five hectares of vines of this cuvée are exposed south/southeast. The soil is comprised of schists typical of this northern AOC.
The vines are planted in high density (8,000-10,000 vines per ha). Treatments are limited to the greatest degree, depending on the weather. No insecticide are used to preserve biodiversity, and little organic-only fertilizer is applied. Precise control of vigor and yields is maintained through leaf stripping and green harvesting for better grape maturation. Disbudding in spring.
Harvesting is manual and vinification is traditional. The least possible use of oenological products (indigenous yeasts) are used. sorting, crushing, and partial destemming takes place in the cellar. Maceration takes three weeks in open vats. This wine matures in 18 months in barrels. A blending of the plots occurs before bottling.
Cuilleron Côte-Rôtie La Madinière is best enjoyed young with fruity aromas (4 to 5 years) or evolving aromas (10 years or more).
Tasting Notes: Round mouth is fleshy, velvety tannins. A beautiful freshness gives balance and length.
