Cuilleron Crozes-Hermitage Blanc “Les Rousses”
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Sourced from vines in the south of the appellation on the village of Mercurol, from the Lieu-dit Malfondières.
- No insecticide are used on the vines to preserve biodiversity. Only organic fertilizers are used.
Varietal Composition: 100% Marsanne
Elaboration: Control of vigor and yields, leaf stripping, green harvesting for better ripening of the grapes. The grapes are manually harvested, plot-by-plot and traditional vinification. Use as little as possible of oenological products (indigenous yeasts). Vinification (alcoholic and malolactic fermentation) and aging 50% in wooden casks of 30 hectoliters and 50% in Burgundy barrels without racking, 8 months on the lees. Blending of the different plots before bottling.
Tasting Notes: Pleasant nose with fruity aromas (peach, pear), lemongrass, hint of almond and white flowers. The mouth is balanced between the softness of the grape variety and the freshness of the terroir.
