Cuilleron Crozes-Hermitage Rouge “Labaya”
WHY WE LOVE IT
- This cuvée is a blend of plots from the Mercurol and Beaumont-Monteux regions. Both are in the Rhône Valley and are recognized for their vineyards and winemaking traditions.
- This wine can be enjoyed in its youth for its fruit expression and will also develop secondary aromas after five years.
Varietal Composition: 100% Viognier
Elaboration: The grapes are handpicked, then sorted, crushed and totally destemmed in the cellar. Fermentation is in open top, temperature-controlled vats for about three weeks, with regular cap-punching and pumping-over. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in vats with native yeasts and malolactic fermentation is in barrels.
Tasting Notes: The nose is powerful with luscious red fruits. The palate is supple, luscious, and beautifully balanced. The fine tannins of this wine highlight the freshness of the crisp fruits.
