Cuilleron Syrah Les Vignes D'A Cote

Cuilleron Syrah Les Vignes d’a Côte

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Vignes d’à Côté refers to the geographical location of the vines located next to the Grands Crus of Rhône Valley. The vines are planted in the great terroir in Chavanay where the soil is granitic and alluvial.
  • Organic, Eco-friendly farming. No insecticides are used.

Varietal Composition: 100% Syrah

Elaboration: Natural cover cropping helps to avoid erosion. No insecticides, with respect of soil and vine balance, are used and treatments are limited (depending on weather and necessity). A small amount of organic-only fertilizer is applied. Precise control of vigor and yields is maintained through leaf thinning and green harvesting for better grape ripening.  Disbudding is in spring.

The grapes are hand-picked, then sorted, crushed and partial destemmed in the cellar. Fermentation is in open top, temperature-controlled vats for about three weeks with regular cap-punching and pumping-over. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in vats with native yeasts and malolactic fermentation is in barrels. Maturation takes seven months with 50% in barrels and 50% in stainless steel tanks.

Cuilleron Syrah Les Vignes D’A Cote is best enjoyed young or up to 3 to 4 years.

Tasting Notes: Nice fresh red fruits and delicate spices give a lovely expression of the Syrah.
