Daughters & Sons Sauvignon Blanc

Daughters & Sons Sauvignon Blanc

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Daughters & Sons creates Washington wines from some of the best vineyards in the Pacific Northwest.
  • This Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Horse Heaven Hills appellation in the Columbia Valley.
  • The grapes come from the Alder Creek Vineyard, where the wind-blown sand and loess mix with sediments from the Great Missoula Flood, and settle into the hot and craggy rubble of Columbia Basin basalt.
  • These vineyards are hot during the day, very cool at nighttime, producing grapes with a great balance between acidity and flavor.  The average age of the vines is15 years old and they are all own-rooted (no rootstock).

Varietal Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Elaboration: Utilizing minimal intervention in the winery the Sauvignon Blanc is fermented with native yeasts and does not go through malolactic fermentation. It is fermented at cooler temperatures to retain aromatics and bottled with minimal sulfites added. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are all grown under the Washington Sustainable program and the wine is made in accordance with Certified Organic Protocols.

Tasting Notes: Bright, refreshing acidity. Apricots, tangerines & floral notes. Layers of stone fruit & pineapple.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Daughters & Sons Winery is the creation of Riley Miller, owner/winemaker at Sonder Wines, and Daniel Luzzo, a long-time private label wine broker. Their goal was to make high-quality wine that could sell at affordable prices. The name reflects the joy of gathering with family and friends and celebrating a legacy of traditions they hope will continue through future generations.

The grapes are sourced from the finest vineyards in the Columbia Valley of Washington. The wines are crafted to be fruit-driven and approachable with a hands-off philosophy. “Utilizing minimal intervention in the winery, we strive to showcase each varietal, and each vintage, to its full potential,” Says Daniel.
