David Bruce Winery Pinot Noir Chalone

David Bruce Winery Pinot Noir “Chalone”

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Chalone is one of the most distinctive appellations in the Central Coast. Sitting at 1600 feet elevation, it is reminiscent of a once undersea volcano with granite and limestone soil from the seashells that infiltrated the granite. It is like a high elevation desert of granite and limestone getting the cooling influence of the ocean.
  • This type of unique soil and climate yields a distinctive and minerally pinot noir. David Bruce Chalone Pinot Noir has all the mineral character with firm yet velvety tannins that would come alive upon decanting or aerating the wine in the glass.
  • This pinot will become more familiar with your palate after the third or fourth sip when the round and sweet tannins come alive.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: The Santa Cruz Mountains have a slowing effect on the growing season. Also, the Estate sits above the fog line at 2000 ft. elevation and is constantly cooled by the ocean breezes. This temperature moderation and along with the well-drained Sandy Loam and decomposed rock type soils results in an ideal terroir and microclimate to grow world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.

Tasting Notes: A nose of dark cherry, raspberry, prickly pears, potpourri and sandalwood notes, mineral and earthy tones.. Cherry, dark plums, dark fruit, dark chocolate and hints of cloves on the pallet. A smooth and round finish
