Decibel Pinot Noir Pacific Passenger

Decibel Wines Pacific Passenger Pinot Noir

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This single vineyard is situated just south of the town of Martinborough along Lake Ferry Road and has unique clay soils over the top of what was once a free draining river bed.
  • Vegan friendly and certified sustainable.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: Destemmed and cold soaked for 5 days on skin then slowly warmed, allowing wild fermentation to kick in. Both Fermentations completed on skins and gently pressed in a stainless steel basket. The wine settled in tank and was then put into French barriques, 15% new. Aged in bottle for 14 months prior to release.

Tasting Notes: Forward nose with dark, grainy plum, raspberries and cherry notes. Savory notes persist with hints of dried herbs and cedar. The front palate is lively and though there are lush, creamy notes through the palate, the wine remains perky and fresh throughout.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Daniel (dB) Brennan, a native of New Jersey, founded Decibel Wines in 2008 in Hastings, New Zealand, a city on the east coast of the North Island, in the Hawke’s Bay region. After touring Europe and America as manager of a rock band, he found himself at his family’s restaurant in Philadelphia where he was inspired by his Sicilian grandfather, a cooper and winemaker, to trade music for wine.

He arrived in his adopted country virtually penniless but with determination to bring his vision to life. He studied Oenology & Viticulture in Hawke’s Bay and worked with some of the region’s top producers, as well as at wineries and vineyards in California, Oregon, and Italy.
