Decibel Wines Pét- Nat Rosé
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Hawke’s Bay is located on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The region enjoys dry summers with moderate, cool nights.
- The Decibel Pet-Nat Rosé is a Malbec grown in the Bridge Pa Appellation on the Heretaunga Plains. It is a blend of three vineyards, all picked on the same day but at varying stages of ripeness capturing a more complex flavor.
- The wine is vegan friendly and certified sustainable.
Varietal Composition: 100% Malbec
Elaboration: Pétillant- Naturel, aka pét-nat, is the least interventionist way to sparkle a wine. This Rosé started fermentation in stainless steel tanks and when the wine was almost dry, it was bottled. Doing this means the yeast finished working in the bottle and the bubbles were trapped inside. Skin contact on average of 3 hours.
Tasting Notes: Fluorescent pink in the glass and positively bursting with raspberry flavors. Lush blackcurrant and berry jam and the backbone of raspberry acidity. Best enjoyed during daylight hours, it’s the fizz to serve over a long lunch or to kick off an evening of festivities. Be warned though; once you’ve had a taste, one bottle may not be enough!

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Daniel (dB) Brennan, a native of New Jersey, founded Decibel Wines in 2008 in Hastings, New Zealand, a city on the east coast of the North Island, in the Hawke’s Bay region. After touring Europe and America as manager of a rock band, he found himself at his family’s restaurant in Philadelphia where he was inspired by his Sicilian grandfather, a cooper and winemaker, to trade music for wine.
He arrived in his adopted country virtually penniless but with determination to bring his vision to life. He studied Oenology & Viticulture in Hawke’s Bay and worked with some of the region’s top producers, as well as at wineries and vineyards in California, Oregon, and Italy.
