Dievole Chianti Classico ‘Catignano’
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Dievole Catignano Chianti Classico is a prestigious Italian red wine produced from organically grown grapes in Tuscany.
- It is primarily made from 100% Sangiovese grapes sourced from Dievole’s high-altitude Catignano vineyard.
- The vineyard is situated in calcareous soil on the geological formation of Monte Morello.
- The sunlit plateau and significant temperature variations create a complex aromatic profile, resulting in a rich and juicy wine flavor.
- Vine age is an average of 10 years.
Varietals: 100% Sangiovese
Elaboration: Fermentation takes 14 to 15 days in 75-hL raw cement vats at a maximum of 28 °C. The wine is then aged for about 13 months in 41-hL untoasted French oak barrels and refined in the bottle for at least 3 months before release.
Tasting Notes: The nose is characterized by red fruits, opening with notes of blackberry and currant. It continues to present a tertiary complexity comprising leather, tobacco, graphite, and licorice. On the palate, the experience is warm and juicy, with ripe red-fruit flavors prominently featured.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Dievole Estate is a historic wine producer located in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, Italy, with origins that date back to 1090. The name “Dievole” translates to “God wills” in Italian. The estate spans 600 hectares and is situated in Vagliagli, just 12 kilometers north of Siena, at elevations ranging from 300 to 450 meters. For nearly a thousand years, Dievole has been producing wine and extra virgin olive oil.
In recent years, the estate has undergone a transformation to focus on premium, organic, and terroir-driven wines. Today, Dievole is owned by the family of Argentine billionaire Alejandro Pedro Bulgheroni, who acquired it in 2012. That same year, Dievole initiated a gradual renewal process aimed at emphasizing high-quality, organic, terroir-driven wines and enhancing the unique identity of this territory.
