Domaine Bosquet des Papes
Domaine Bosquet des Papes is a respected family winery that has been run by the Boiron family for six generations, since 1860. Located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of the Southern Rhône Valley in France, the 32-hectare estate is renowned for its age-worthy red wines.
Originally established by Emmanuel Boiron, the estate is now run by Nicolas Boiron and his wife, Jeanne-Claire. For many years, the estate’s wine was sold under the name Clos Chantemerle. However, in 1966, the estate was officially renamed Bosquet des Papes, which translates to “the pope’s grove/woods.”
The Boiron family prioritizes traditional Rhône winemaking practices over contemporary trends. Their philosophy focuses on producing wines with exceptional aging potential that truly express the region’s unique and diverse terroir.
The domain’s vineyards cover approximately 40 different parcels across the appellation. The average age of the vines is about 50 years, with some of the flagship vines reaching ages of 70 to 100 years.
Soil diversity is a key feature of these vineyard plots, which include a rich variety of soils typical of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Varied soils, including red sandstone and clay-limestone subsoils, contribute to the remarkable character of their wines.
