Domaine Brunely Ventoux Red
WHY WE LOVE IT
- The estate mansion has a long history, originating from the Middle Ages, but also Napoleon III resided in this home.
- The Domaine Brunely Ventoux Red vines are planted on the named spot “la Lise” in the terroir of Coustellet, not so far from the touristic area of Gordes in the Luberon.
Varietal Composition: 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 20% Carignan
Elaboration: The terroir is light ocher soil with a clay limestone texture. To keep the intensity of the fruit on this specific terroir, we do a cold maceration & fermentation over 20 to 30 days. Several stompings enhance the skin-juice contact and develop the maximum amount of aromas. The grapes are hand sorted and completely destemmed, keeping only the best fruit.
The Domaine Brunely Ventoux Red can be enjoyed young to enjoy the fruit aromas, but can also be kept in your cellar for 5 years during which more aging aromas will develop.
Tasting Notes: Clear ruby color with garnet-red shades. Beautiful expressive nose of red cherries and notes of fine spices. A sweet palate with notes of red and black fruits, tight tannins and a finish with good intensity.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Domaine Brunely has existed in the Carichon family for three generations and is one of more larger and well-known producers in Vacqueyras, which is the house specialty. Total holdings include 198 acres of vines spread between Vacqueyras, Cairanne, Ventoux, Gigondas, and Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Stylistically, winemaking veers towards the traditional spectrum here, where no wood is used other than in their Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Farming is natural.
