PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Domaine Oliveira Lecestre was established in 1955 by Mr. De Oliveira in Fontenay-près-Chablis, a village in north-central France. True to its name, the community is less than a 10-minute drive from the town of Chablis. The De Oliveira family had emigrated to the Chablis region from Portugal earlier in the 20ht Century.
At age 14, Mr. De Oliveira worked in the vineyards for other growers and the family made a small amount of wine on the side. In 1965, Mr. De Oliveira joined with his brother-in-law, Mr. Lecestre to work for themselves. Today, the estate totals 48 hectares spread across the four Chablis appellations of Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. In 1997, Mr. De Oliveira’s daughter took over the operation and three generations currently manage the estate.
