Domaine FL Anjou Villages Rouge “Le Cochet”

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Situated in the heart of the Rochefort-sur-Loire vineyards, the Le Cochet plot surrounds Domaine FL and benefits from an exceptional terroir made up of schist and clay. These soils, characteristic of Anjou Noir, are well-suited for the red grape varieties Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Organically farmed and carefully aged in oak barrels, Le Cochet develops additional complexity. The oak influence is finely integrated, enhancing the nobility of the blend without overshadowing the fruit.
  • This is a refined red wine that is both powerful and elegant, perfectly balanced between aromatic richness and freshness.

Varietal Composition: 80% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon

Elaboration: Organically farmed and aged in oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: In this Anjou Villages vintage , Cabernet Franc expresses all its aromatic delicacy through subtle notes of fresh raspberry and violet, while Cabernet Sauvignon brings depth, structure and an elegantly structured tannic framework.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Domaine Fournier Longchamps is a family estate based in Rochefort sur Loire in Maine-et-Loire. It lies near the river Loire, 15 km southwest of Angers. The estate’s vineyards cross the boundaries of several highly respected appellations, including Loire and Savennières, best known for its highly rated white wine.

Philip Fournier Longchamps established Domaine FL by purchasing two estates in 2006 and 2007. The estate covers 43 hectares of vines spread throughout the Loire wine region on both sides of the river. It is a preserved landscape, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Grapes have been grown here since the 12th century.
