Domaine Fond Croze Cotes du Rhone “Cuvée Confidence”
WHY WE LOVE IT
- This wine comes from their estate vineyard in Saint-Roman-De-Malegarde.
- Its exposure on the North side of the hill offers a magnificent freshness.
- Vineyard of Saint-Roman-De-Malegarde, chalky clay- limestone hillsides, with a North-West exposure offering a nice freshness in the mouth.
Varietal Composition: 70% Grenache, 30%Syrah
Elaboration: The harvest is sorted and destemmed, then the winemaking is done in concrete vats. Aging in vats for one to two years.
Tasting Notes: Bright dark garnet color with purplish highlights. At the first nose, we have a wine with a beautiful aromatic complexity. After aeration, it reveals notes of black fruits, blackberries and cassis followed by peppery notes and leather. On the palate the tannins are melted and silky, we find the aromas of black fruits and spices that we had on the nose.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Domaine Fond Croze is truly a family business – any and all of the family are likely to be at the cave when you go to visit.
Charles Long first purchased land outside Saint Roman de Malegarde after returning from World War I. His son, Raymond, expanded the vineyards once he started full-time in the business and today, Raymonds sons Bruno (the winemaker) and Daniel (the vineyard manager) are the 3rd generation.
The Longs produce a wide range of honest and unpretentious wines from their 70 hectares. From 2009, Domaine Fond-Croze follows organic methods.
