Domaine Fond Croze Côtes du Rhône Villages Mozaik

Domaine Fond Croze Côtes du Rhône Villages Mozaik

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • This wine is the result of the combination of the different terroirs of Saint-Roman-de-Malegarde, and the selection of grape varieties from the three previous cuvées: Shyrus, Romanaise and Vieux Ceps de Raymond.
  • It is a beautiful blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan giving this bottle a nice balance between power and aromatic freshness. This wine is a beautiful expression of fruit with fine and rounded tannins.

Varietal Composition: Grenache, Syrah, Carignan

Elaboration: The harvest is sorted and destemmed, then vinification is done in concrete vats. Aged in concrete vats for the Carignans, in 350 liter barrels for the Grenaches and in 225 liter barrels for the Syrah. Vineyard of Saint-Roman-De-Malegarde, stony clay-limestone hillsides, with a North-West exposure offering a slight freshness in the mouth. Cuvée made with old vines of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah.

Tasting Notes: Very strong robe, ruby red with purplish reflections. On the nose, aromas of intense fruit, liquorice and spices. In the mouth, a remarkable power. Elegant and very long in retro-olfaction with a spicy aromatic finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Domaine Fond Croze is truly a family business – any and all of the family are likely to be at the cave when you go to visit.

Charles Long first purchased land outside Saint Roman de Malegarde after returning from World War I. His son, Raymond, expanded the vineyards once he started full-time in the business and today, Raymonds sons Bruno (the winemaker) and Daniel (the vineyard manager) are the 3rd generation.

The Longs produce a wide range of honest and unpretentious wines from their 70 hectares. From 2009, Domaine Fond-Croze follows organic methods.
