Fond Croze Côtes du Rhône Villages Vaison-la-Romaine “La Romanaise”
WHY WE LOVE IT
- This wine comes from their estate vineyard in Saint-Roman-De-Malegarde. Its exposure on the North side of the hill offers a magnificent freshness.
- Vineyard of Saint-Roman-De-Malegarde, chalky clay-limestone slopes, with a North-West exposure.
Varietal Composition: 100% Grenache
Elaboration: The harvest is sorted and destemmed. The vinifications are long to allow optimal extraction and are done in concrete tanks. Aging in 350 liter French oak barrels for one year.
Tasting Notes: Very intense color, ruby red with purplish reflections. On the nose, aromas of intense fruit and spices. In the mouth, a remarkable power. Elegant with a spicy aromatic finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Domaine Fond Croze is truly a family business – any and all of the family are likely to be at the cave when you go to visit.
Charles Long first purchased land outside Saint Roman de Malegarde after returning from World War I. His son, Raymond, expanded the vineyards once he started full-time in the business and today, Raymond’s sons Bruno (the winemaker) and Daniel (the vineyard manager) are the 3rd generation.
The Longs produce a wide range of honest and unpretentious wines from their 70 hectares. From 2009, Domaine Fond-Croze follows organic methods.
