Domaine Fond Croze IGP Mediterranée Rouge 3L BiB

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The vineyards are located along the Aygue River, a small river crossing several villages in Provence.
  • Chalky sand soil with small with stones, which enhances the ripeness levels of the fruit

Varietal Composition: Grenache, Merlot, Syrah, Caladoc, and Cabernet Sauvignon

Elaboration: The harvest is double-sorted and destemmed to maintain a clean fruit basis with soft tannins. The fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats at low temperature.

Tasting Notes: Well balanced with aromas of black fruit like Morello cherry and blackcurrant, followed by hints of pepper, bell pepper, and rosemary.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Domaine Fond Croze is truly a family business – any and all of the family are likely to be at the cave when you go to visit.

Charles Long first purchased land outside Saint Roman de Malegarde after returning from World War I. His son, Raymond, expanded the vineyards once he started full-time in the business and today, Raymond’s sons Bruno (the winemaker) and Daniel (the vineyard manager) are the 3rd generation. All aspects of winemaking is supervised by Philippe Cambie, who is considered to be among the world’s best winemakers by Robert Parker.

The Longs produce a wide range of honest and unpretentious wines from their 70 hectares. From 2009, Domaine Fond-Croze follows organic methods.
