Domaine Montmartel Côtes du Rhône Rouge

Varietal Composition: 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 30% Carignan

Elaboration: The best plots from the Visan and Tulette villages are selected for this blend. The grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. During the fermentation period, temperatures are controlled between 64°F and 82° C. It lasts for 2 weeks to ensure a good balance between soft tannins and fresh fruit flavours. Damien uses only native yeasts and the wine is not sweetened or aromatized in order to protect the typicity of the terroir and the vintage.

Tasting Notes: Well-structured palate with black berry and plum fruits, violets and cedar wood with a dusting of pepper.




Family run estate, managed by the young and talented Damien Marres.  In 2002 when Damien was 23 years old, he settled on one of the oldest properties of Visan, a domain that extends to Saint-Maurice and Valréas. It was his great-grandfather, Raoul Couston, who founded this vineyard in 1919 after the war. For decades, the great-grandfather has vinified his own grapes and harvests purchased from local winegrowers, identifying the beautiful plots that he bought to be a qualitative and coherent area. The Visan area of ​​Montmartel covers 30 hectares in one piece, between vineyards and woods facing south.
