Domaine Pélaquié Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun Rouge
WHY WE LOVE IT
- Personality packed example of Laudun Rouge. Sourced from sandy and clayey slopes, with fossilized sediments.
- As is also the case with their Laudun white, Northern exposure keeps things focused.
Varietal Composition: 60% Grenache 25% Syrah 15% Mourvèdre
Elaboration: Grape varieties are harvested at optimal ripeness and stalked. After 24 hours of cold maceration, the fermentation takes place in thermo-regulated tanks with regular pumping-over for 10-15 days, before ageing 15-20 months in stainless tank.
Tasting Notes: Beautiful intense garnet color. Fine nose of black fruits and undergrowth scent. The mouth is well rounded, fruity and supple, with thin tannins. It suits to red meat and Provencal cuisine.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
The Pélaquié family has been cultivating vines on the same Southern Rhône parcel since the mid-1500’s. Each generation has protected this cultural legacy with love, keeping the familial footprint in tact via some of the most elegant wines you’ll find in Lirac, Tavel, and Laudun. The estate is 95 hectares in total, and stylistically these are what you’d call “classic.” White wines have emerged as somewhat of a specialty here under Luc Pélaquié’s direction and these are worth paying special attention to when available.
