Domaine Pélaquié Tavel

Domaine Pélaquié Tavel

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Pretty and engaging Tavel sourced from Calcareous slopes with Lauzes. Southern exposure.

Varietal Composition: 60% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 20% Mourvèdre

Elaboration: Grape varieties are hand-picked. Before pressing the grapes are stalked and put in tank for few hours of maceration. The free-run juice and the press juice are blended before the alcoholic fermentation in thermo-regulated tanks at 65°F during 20 days

Tasting Notes: Limpid and intense color with brilliant reflections. The bouquet is complex, floral and also fruity. It is rich in mouth and offers a long fruity finish. It is perfect with grilled fish and vegetables.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

The Pélaquié family has been cultivating vines on the same Southern Rhône parcel since the mid-1500’s. Each generation has protected this cultural legacy with love, keeping the familial footprint in tact via some of the most elegant wines you’ll find in Lirac, Tavel, and Laudun. The estate is 95 hectares in total, and stylistically these are what you’d call “classic.” White wines have emerged as somewhat of a specialty here under Luc Pélaquié’s direction and these are worth paying special attention to when available.
