Domaine Sorin Côtes de Provence Rose "Terra Amata"

Domaine Sorin Côtes de Provence Rose “Terra Amata”

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • With the style of Côtes de Provence Rosé. Rosé Terra Amata is a dry wine with nice fruity notes of red berries. Lovely balance and a beautiful freshness.

Varietal Composition: 60% Grenache 30% Cinsault 10% Syrah

Elaboration: Grapes were hand-picked and selected. They were put in a pneumatic press where the juice was gently extracted from the grapes. The temperature controlled fermentation of the must after the addition of selected yeast and the elaboration of the young wine took place in a stainless steel tank.. Bottled at the estate.

Tasting Notes: This is a very dry rose, strawberry and slightly under-ripe watermelon on the nose with more of that tart melon on the palate. Minerals show in the middle palate and the wine is so refreshing.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

The late Luc Sorin, a man Robert Parker has called “one of the most exciting winegrowers the South of France has to offer,” purchased this 14 hectacre Bandol estate in 1994, and quickly converted it to organic principles. Winemaking was clearly in Luc Sorin’s blood – He came from an uninterrupted line of family Bandol winemaking that began in 1577. Luc famously collaborated with Seguin Moreau to invent the rotating barrel fermenter, a piece of equipment now routine in leading wine regions around the world. The domaine is just over a mile away from the Mediterranean Sea. Olivier Santini, who also owns and operates the iconic Domaine Paternel in Cassis, purchased Domaine Sorin several years ago after Luc’s passing – This acquisition fulfilled his dream of vineyard property in Bandol and allowed him to feed the increasing demand for his Cotes de Provence Rose.
